The need for us to find innovative solutions to tackle the growing issues in society around physical health and mental wellbeing are immediate. As Nelson Mandela said: ‘Education is the most powerful weapon which you can use to change the world,’ and we passionately believe that if we are going to make meaningful and lasting change in society around physical health and mental wellbeing, this has to be in our schools.
We are fortunate enough to work with generous sponsors who support the Project in several ways. One such example is Castle Point shopping centre in Bournemouth, Dorset. As part of a wider drive to support the local community and wellbeing amongst young people they have sponsored several schools in the local area to engage in our Health Ambassador Programme, supporting them to implement our curriculum, providing resources and upskilling teachers in the process.
The most significant impact from our work so far is that the young people are saying that they are better informed and making healthier choices about their lifestyle. It has also been noted that it is having a positive impact on their family life. Teachers are stating they are more confident in their delivery and it is changing the choices they are making in and out of the classroom. School leaders are saying that their school is better prepared for Ofsted, wellbeing is more embedded into school life and the quality of wellbeing provision across the board has improved.
Having commercial partners helps to ensure the sustainability and the legacy of The Children’s Health Project in five key areas of school life: whole school ethos; subject leadership; school environment; the curriculum and the wider community. It means we are able to reach more schools and help more children in the areas that need it the most. We appreciate that any company we partner with would, aside from the purely charitable element, need a reciprocal and practical relationship. This is achieved in several ways:
Sponsorship of schools in communities where your commercial projects or partners are based
Sponsorship of schools where your employees children attend
Association and promotion of the partnership with a CIC supporting physical and mental wellbeing at a time when it is needed the most
The nature of the Project would meet key aspects of Corporate Social Responsibility
Using our existing links with independent schools which raises the profile and advertises our work to all stakeholders in many top performing independent schools
By maintaining community links through our work with Active Partnerships, Sports Partnerships and local councils
The possibility of skill-sharing or volunteering with your employees
The impact that your organisation could have is profound. Our passionate belief is that supporting the wellbeing of children unlocks the potential to the future they deserve, and your organisation could play a pivotal role in this.
If you would like to sponsor any number of schools to be part of our Project, we can discuss the reciprocal benefit and how to get started with you. Please contact me on the details below.
